All chewing gum must be disposed of responsibly. However, if chewing gum becomes stuck to carpet, clothing, hair or similar, we recommend the following:
Clothing Scrape off as much of the chewing gum as possible, and put the clothing in the freezer. Freezing turns the chewing gum hard, making it easier to break or scrape off. Another method is to use a solvent. However, be sure to check first that the clothing can tolerate the application of solvent.
Carpet
Scrape off as much of the chewing gum as possible. Cool the remaining chewing gum with an ice cube or a special freeze spray, as used by sportsmen and women. This turns the chewing gum hard, allowing you to scrape or rub it off.
Hair
Vegetable cooking oil can usually be used to break down chewing gum residue in hair. Rub a little oil onto the gum to dissolve it. The oil can then be washed out using ordinary shampoo.
Soft furnishings
Place an ice cube on the chewing gum until it turns hard. You can then scrape it off with a knife.
Hard surfaces
The chewing gum can be removed with the help of a scraper or putty knife. In extreme cases, oil spray or high-pressure cleaning can be used.
